Nourishing, not dieting

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

Where do you stand on dieting? Have you had success dieting in the past? Do you find yourself in a dieting cycle? (losing weight, gaining back, losing...etc.)

The idea of going “on” a diet is actually a failing one from the start… if you’re going “on” it, you’re eventually going to come off of it. Whether your goal is to lose weight or improve an aspect of your health, before making a change to your eating habits you should ask, “can I eat this way for the rest of my life?”

Diets are also lacking because you are an INDIVIDUAL - your genetics, history, and preferences are all unique to you and cannot be addressed by a generic formula.

Diets also take away the responsibility to educate yourself. We’re taught so much as we grow up- how to read, how to ride a bike, how to drive a car... Some things take longer than others and when we aren’t taught the right way, there is a process of re-learning. Nutrition is no different, and if we avoid the process of learning what’s best for us, we can never be truly successful by just following a set of rules a diet prescribes.

Instead of that diet you’re trying out again this new year, consider getting help from a Registered Dietitian. I see you as a WHOLE person and can consider all of your individuality as I give you the tools and teach you to eat to nourish for your body and your lifestyle. I love being a motivator and accountability for my clients and seeing them have lasting success!
