Last month, we discussed how success can look like lowering your cholesterol. But today we’re talking about succeeding in weight loss, and I couldn’t think of a better example than Patience. Patience started her journey in January 2019 with a goal of losing excess weight through changing her nutrition and by May of 2019 she had lost 25 pounds!
When I met with her, we discussed strategies for enjoying the journey as she worked toward her weight loss goals. We wanted to keep her motivated while setting her up for long term success. She really ran with that and used benchmarks along her path to keep the momentum going. She describes her success like this:
“Losing weight isn’t about “picking” a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. You have to decide you are ready and set goals. Make the goals attainable. I decided every time I lost 5 more pounds I would reward myself. One time it was Halo ice cream, another a new workout outfit. My final reward for hitting my last goal was a new swimsuit for the beach.”
