Stress Eating

Right now so many things are unknown and unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. This sort of environment can lead to high levels of stress and anxiety, which can, of course, lead to… stress eating. So, let's talk about how you can avoid falling into stress eating and also use nutrition to help you when you’re feeling stressed.

During times like these, you may be tempted to look for a quick-fix to ease the stress. But your best choice is to take inventory of your eating patterns and your specific health needs and develop some personal strategies to #eattonourish during stressful times.

  • This means, taking some time to consider what you’re eating, when you’re eating and WHY you are eating. Remember mindful eating - check in with your body and consider what your actual needs are.

  • Consider establishing a designated place to eat. Somewhere that you must sit down to enjoy your food, instead of eating while standing in the kitchen, walking around, etc.

  • Also, parents, you might be preparing more meals for your kids now that school is out… you don’t have to finish their plate! It might just be a little bite here and there, but it really adds up!

I like to work with my clients to help them learn how to make the best nutritional choices within the realities of life. Some of you are facing huge changes and challenges in your lives right now. This stress can highlight unhealthy patterns we have with food at a time when our bodies need us to ensure we’re getting proper nutrition.
